Bahrain Meet and Greet: Let’s show our team!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

On the Thursday night when we arrive in Bahrain there is a “meet and greet” night for all clubs participating in the games on Friday.

This is something we feel we should/will attend for a short period of time to show our backing for the tournament and for all events organized around it.

We, as a club, feel it would be nice to have all our players decked out in club colours for this event and for the games the following day. Consequently, what I plan to do is to bring our social tops down to training tomorrow night and anyone who has not got a social top already can buy one if they so wish.

Social tops are selling at a price of AED 175 per top with 2 different designs to choose from. We do not want to force this upon people but we would look a lot more “like a team” if we were all kitted out in the same colours.

Also, an e-mail will follow about training tomorrow night once we hear back from The Golf Club.

Bahrain updates

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Just a few updates regarding our trip to Bahrain this coming weekend.

  • Those of you who had minor spelling mistakes on your e-ticket are fine. Gulf Air have been made aware of this and I have been assured by the travel agent that it will not be an issue when you are checking in. I will distribute these tickets again at training Wednesday night.
  • There will be a bus, when we arrive in Bahrain, waiting to collect us and to take us to the hotel.
  • On the morning of the games (Friday) all players have to be at the pitches by no later than 9:30 am which means we will be leaving for the ground at around 8:30/8:45 am Friday morning. Players will be given priority for transportation.
  • Please remember that the flight departure time from Abu Dhabi is 6:40 pm on Thursday evening so you will need to be at the airport by 4:30/4:40 pm for check-in to be on the safe side.

That’s everything for now. Again, if you have any questions just drop me an e-mail and I’ll see what I can do for you

Change of Training Venue this Week

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

ghazal_pitchApologies about the late notice of this mail but I only just found out that the pitch at The American International School is not available this week as they are preparing for a varsity football tournament this coming weekend.

As a result we have had to move training out to the Al Ghazal Golf Club out by the airport. Please see the attached map for directions.

Training times will remain the same: -
> 7:00 – 8:00 pm Ladies training.
> 8:00 – 9:00 pm Guys training.

Could you please spread the word via text to anyone who might not have access to their e-mail this evening to let them know about this change of location

Sharjah, Al Ain, Dubai Mini Tournament – and last minute details for the Beach Party!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

As you know we have a mini tournament running tomorrow between ourselves, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain.
The details of the day’s events are as follows:

Location: American International School (29th Street).
Start: 4:00 pm; Time: 7:00 pm.

Could we ask everyone, both girls and guys, to be at the pitch by 3:45 pm please?

Dubai Men’s are only bringing 1 team but will play against us in 2 matches as we have enough numbers for 2 teams.

In the girl’s tournament there will be 5 teams in total – Abu Dhabi (x2), Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain. Every team is guaranteed 2 games with a possibility of a third – time permitting of course.

There will also be an inter club juvenile’s game early in the evening. If there are any of you out there who are not players but who would like to come down to support the games that would be very much appreciated – all are welcome!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the games!

– and a few quick details for tomorrow night’s (Nov 13th) beach party: -

Gates open at 9:00 pm.
You will need your ticket and a valid form of ID to gain entry to The Club.
Food will be served from 10:00 pm onwards.
Beach Wear essential.

Game against Dubai – Bahrain warmup

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

There has been a change in plans for Fridays Game against Dubai. There will now be 2 Mens games: a Championship game and a Challenge game. Everyone who shows up will get a run out.

Remember folks, the teams have not been finalised for Bahrain and the teams fielding on Friday are just to give us an idea at this stage. There are still alot of places up for grabs.

Assuming the timing stays the same we need everyone down at the pitch for 4pm (Vinny to confirm).

The Aussie rules lads will be having a game from around 2.30 it’d be good if we could be down and show some support to the lads in their game as they support us throughout the year.

Bahrain flight details

Monday, November 9th, 2009

We’ve finalized details of the flights to and from Bahrain on the 19th and 21st of November:

Gulf Air
Option 1
GF 545 19 NOVEMBER ABU DHABI – BAHRAIN 1840 / 1850
GF 544 21 NOVEMBER BAHRAIN – ABU DHABI 1540 / 1750.

Our apologies for the early departure time on both the Thursday and Saturday but these were the only flights available that could accommodate our large numbers travelling this year.

I appreciate most of you work late on Thursdays so this is ample warning that you may need to organize for yourself to get off work early on the above day/date.

As the numbers checking in will be quite large (we have 72 travelling on this flight at present) I would advise everyone to be at the airport for no later than 4:30/4.40 pm on the 19th.

Once at the airport it will be a case of going up to the check in counter yourselves and checking in individually – you don’t have to wait for everyone to check in together.

Further e-mails will follow later this week and early next week but for now if you have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact me at declan.madden@hct.ac.ae.

I still need payment from some so could you please have it for me at training Wednesday night.
