Training on Weds, Dec 7 Function
Thursday, November 15th, 2007Training will resume this Wednesday night from 8-9:30 at the pitch on 13th street (Delma). This change of date and venue was not by choice and is the only real option if we want to keep training every week. The pitch itself is easy to find.
If you’re coming from town get onto Airport Road and take the right at the signal with 13th. You will then see the pitch on the left, so do a u-turn at the signal on Karama Street and take the right turn at the floodlights.
From Choueifat it’s only a block away from you so you could walk it, its just behind the big mosque which you can see if you go to the backside of the Pizza Hut Building on Airport Road. If you’re a lazy sod then do the opposite of the message above.
Can I remind you all that numbers are the key to good training sessions and its up to you all to put the effort in. We are only training once a week from now on so its vital that we get as many people out to the field as possible. Also i have to remind you all that the 300 dirhams for annual pitch fees is now due, there is an urgency for this as the new pitch wants an up front payment for the year and Tadhg would like to get all the member’s names to get your Membership/discount cards printed.
We have a busy couple of weeks coming up as we will be playing rounds 2 and 3 of our championship with Dubai on Friday 23rd of November (in Dubai) and Friday 7th of December (in Abu Dhabi). Both teams have seen rapid improvements against Dubai in recent matches and there is no reason why, with a full panel available, we can’t take the game to them, however we need the effort and commitment which has already been shown to continue.
Also the social tops should be available this weekend so we should have them available to travel to Dubai next week.
We are hoping to hold a Fundraiser/function in the Crown Plaza on the 7th of December. This would be a fancy dress night and we would appreciate any suggestions for a theme. Tadhg suggested a red, white and blue vibe in keeping with his new-found ancestry, while Pat English (not unexpectedly) put forward a tinsel and tights night. These nights are usually a bit of craic and will be a last chance to celebrate Christmas together before people start jetting off to different destinations. It also coincides with our game down here with Dubai so we will try and get them to stay down.
That’s all for now and we’ll hope to see you all (and your MONEY) at the pitch on Wed night.
Take Care
Ben Kehoe
