Hi all

I am pleased to announce the details of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Na Fianna Pool Tournament.

From day one great interest has been shown by everyone which has enabled me to organize a 32 person doubles tournament. (My thanks to all who replied with a swift response from the outset).

Team pairings and group listings can be viewed by clicking on the attachment above.

The one remaining detail that needs to be finalized is venue and date. At the moment it looks like PJ’s will be the most likely venue with the games to take place on either Tuesday March 6 or Wednesday March 7. (Feedback on this would be appreciated – if for any reason you can’t make it on either of these two dates could you please let me know asap as it will allow me time to try to reorganize in order to accommodate everyone).

I need to approach the manager (within the next couple of days) with exact numbers, dates and times so I can tie him down to some sort of deal hopefully.

The format for the night’s play is as follows:

There will be 4 groups each consisting of 4 teams. Every team will play each other once in a round robin format (Due to time restrictions each match will consist of 1 rack only).

The scoring system is 2 pts for a win, 0 for a loss.

Winners and runners-up from each group go forward to the quarter finals. (Again subject to time – may be altered).

From quarter final stage it’s a straight knockout up to, and including, the final.

Things to remember for Thursday March 1

• The first game is at 6 so we need to be there about 5:30 to be ready to begin at 6.
• If you cannot make it please let Mark 0506203076 or Eileen 0508236269 know.
• If you have a playing top at home please bring it along with you.
• Bring a spare set of clothes as you’ll be sitting around between games.
• There will be a free buffet in the Crown Plaza after the games in the Al-Deyafah room (above Heroes)

Hello all,

We’re delighted to announce the details of the first GAA football tournament in Abu Dhabi.

The first match will start at 6:00pm on Thursday evening at Zayed Sport City so we’d like everyone to be at the pitches for 5:30 as time will be very tight.

Pass the word around to everyone as this is a great chance for us to show the potential of Abu Dhabi as a location for a football tournament in March to replace the old Dubai competition.

The schedule of games is attached. If you have any problems opening it let me know. Don’t forget training on Monday.

Well done to the ladies for another large turnout last night at training.Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the men!

Can we ask all of you to please make the effort as we have people with young families giving up their night to organise training.

We have booked the Sheikh Zayed Sports City pitch for this Friday, Feb 23rd from 3 to 5.This will give us the chance for some extra practice before the visit of Oman on Dubai on Thursday, March 1st.

We have a large collection of the Ruwais crowd coming so we need everyone who can make it to come along for a decent game.

The social jerseys will be available on the day – 75 Dhs each.

Every Monday – here! Location of the pitch, or close enough…

Hello everyone. Can we remind you that training is back in full swing again on Monday nights. We’re on the same pitches as before at Zayed Sport City. Ladies training is from 8 to 9 Men from 9 to 10. Try to get there a few minutes before hand so we can use as much of the time as possible.

The social shirts will be available at training for anyone wishing to buy any. They are 75 Dhs each. If you were on the bus to Oman and took a social top, please send me your name if I don’t already have it. See you all tomorrow night.

Following our meeting last month it was decided to organize a pool night (not the water kind – sorry eamonn – I know how much you love em) as a way of getting everyone together for a fun night out.

Before any details can be forwarded re venue, time, format, etc I need to know everyone’s level of interest. What I can say is that it will be run off on the night and hopefully if there is an equal level of interest from both the guys and girls it will be a mixed doubles tournament with each team consisting of 1 male and 1 female member.

Ability is not important – what is important is getting everyone together for a night of laughs and a bit of craic (and hopefully a few drinks!!!)

Just a reminder to everyone who’s travelling to Oman this weekend – DO NOT FORGET YOUR PASSPORTS!!! Double check the expiry date also as you may need at least 6 months.

For those travelling on the bus it will be leaving Choueifat at 8:30 sharp with whoever is on it. We need to do this to get down there on time to book into the hotel and sort out the rooms before the game. We’ve been asked to keep 4 doubles and 1 twin for 2. All the rest will be put into rooms with 3 unless we have a late addition. If you want to be put in a room with a certain person let me know asap.

IF you have a jersey please bring it with you.
