Well Done, and Info about Oman

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

We have to make a booking as soon as possible with a hotel in Oman. We have been recommended the Beach Hotel. Rooms can take 2 or 3 people in each. The cost will probably be about 100 Dh each for 3 sharing and 130 – 150 Dh each for 2 in a room.
This will include the bus there and breakfast the next day. Let me know if you need a room for 2.

We need numbers confirmed as soon as possible but before you do so please check that your passport is in date. You’ll have to pay for a visa at the border and the cost will be dependent on where your passport is from.

Ladies, it looks like we’ll have to play a mixed game with Oman as they do not have enough players so please let me know if you have changed your mind. (more…)

Bus 7:30 Friday!!

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Hello all.bus
The bus is booked for Friday, leaving from Choueifat car park at 7:30 on Friday morning.

Please be there early as it needs to leave at this time for us to get there and do a warm up before the first ladies game.

For those travelling by car we haven’t been able to get a map of how to get to the Polo grounds but we’ve been told to head for the Autodrome which is out at Arabian Ranches, off Emirates Road.

If you’re lost you can call Declan on – 050 4115808.

Please remember to bring suncream and few changes of clothing as there will be a bit of a delay between games. You may want to bring a few snacks with you as we haven’t been informed of the catering facilities for the Friday.

If any of you have any of the playing kit can you please bring it with you – washed!!!!

We’ve had a few of the ladies volunteer to bow out but I’d like to ask them to bring their boots if they’d like to play and we will try our hardest to get them a game.

All the best, and remember Friday will be a long day so take it easy on Thursday night.

Good luck.

At Long Last…

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

At long last we’ve received the details of the Dubai tournament. You can download the full timetable and details here- I’ve attached the information that was sent to us this morning.

The first ladies match will be at 10:40 so it looks like the bus will have to leave Choueifat at 7:30. The first men’s match will be at 12:00.

It looks like the All Stars game will finish about 17:10 on the Saturday so we’ll have to agree on a time for the bus to come for us on the Saturday. Unfortunately all teams will be restricted to 12 players.

This causes a problem with our ladies team which had 14 players. In the notes on the registration page extra players may be assigned to a team that is short. However, if all the teams are full they may allow 14 players. This causes us a problem in that some of our players will not know who they are playing with or if they will get a game at all until the Friday. Please let me know ASAP if you’d like to withdraw you name from the list below as a decision will have to be taken on the 12 players.

There is a registration fee of 100 Dh per player which the club will pay but before we do so please let us know if you can’t make the trip.

Ladies

Eileen Rahill, Sinead Lynam, Catriona Mc Morris, Shawnah Staples, Laura O’ Sullivan, Sorcha Kenny, Holly Heibein, Megan Devren, Jane Waterhouse, Lorraine Brady, Trish Collier, Miranda Rose, Liza Bergstrom, Claire Gallagher.

Men:

Ben Kehoe, Sean Casey, Terry Fulton, Mark Keanan, Declan Brady Mike Boyce, Johann Svensson, Pat English

All the best

January Meeting

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Thanks to all those who attended last night. It was great to get a few thing cleared up with the busy schedule over the next few weeks. The program of events for Dubai has been attached.
Before we go over the details we’d like to wish Paddy Clifford all the best who has unfortunately, for the club, decided to head home to Ireland. You’ll be sorely missed Paddy and remember Scouse still has to get you a woman!!! Keep in touch big man and you never know we may see you back out this way.

As for the next few weeks here are the details: A bus will leave on Friday 26th to go to the 7’s in Dubai. It’ll be coming back down on Saturday 27th after the Exhibition match. The times will be confirmed during the week. For those wishing to come back on the Friday, Al Ghazal Express is about 150 – 180 Dh.

For anyone staying over you could try these sites for a cheap room http://www.lastminute.com, http://www.asiarooms.com, or http://www.expedia.com

It looks like all the activities will be taking place in the Irish Village on the Friday night and once we get a final price I’ll pass it on.

Below are the teams. (more…)

Meeting: Jan 17 Crowne Plaza 8 pm

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Could we ask all of you to attend a meeting on Wednesday 17th January from 8 to 9 in the Crown Plaza?
As you know we have been unable to get a pitch for training due to the Gulf Cup so we’d like a meeting to discuss the following:

  • Dubai tournament – teams and travel arrangements.
  • Oman Trip – travel and accommodation
  • Emerald Elvis in April
  • Mick Galwey in May
  • Other social events

We look forward to seeing you all there.

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

Hopefully you’re well rested after the holidays and dying for a run around a football pitch again. For some of you, including myself, it’ll be an excuse to run off all the overindulgence of the last few weeks!!!!
With the Gulf Cup taking place our regular pitch is not available for training. We are working hard on an alternative but it looks like we may have to share a pitch on Delma street.

Please check your emails in the next few days for word on where and when the next training session will take place.

If there are any lads interested in the 7’s competition in Dubai on the 26th of January please let me know.At the minute we only have the following:

Mark Keenan
Terry Fulton

Hopefully we’ll see you sooner than later,
